HIV Stories

In 2006 I completed a master’s degree in visual communication at the University of North Carolina School of Journalism and Mass Communication. My thesis, HIV Stories, views the HIV crisis in a South African township called Mamelodi through the eyes of a gravedigger, hospice nurse, homemaker, widow and a child headed household. Through these stories I explore the themes of AIDS, poverty and faith.  It was through relationships built during two trips to South Africa working on this project that I eventually returned to South Africa for a year with Africa Revolution, where my wife and I continued telling stories through our blog Mamelodi Stories.
